"Debian Linux" and "Debian GNU/Linux"? The right term is "Debian GNU/Linux" and Debian uses that term since 1993 (date of is creation).
Anyway, I think this is simple.. GNU without Linux or vice-versa are nothing! Linus can have an excellent kernel, but without applications from GNU (cp, mv, ls, etc..) we need to code from scratch. GNU have the same problem.. the only difference is that GNU started his kernel (Hurd) but never finished, so their applications without an kernel don't do much!
In my opinion GNU/Linux is the best term to use!

“Most Linux distribution uses term like Red Hat Linux or Debian Linux or sometime simply Linux. @yoander, I've also added "GNU/Linux vs Linux naming controversy" topic.

The hart of a pc is the cpu, the hart of the os is the kernel!!

Linux is a operating system, otherwise you could say vista is a kernel and the vista “business or whatever” is the operating system.

The hart of a pc is the cpu, the hart of the os is the kernel!!

By: yoander

<guid

While I myself only use propriety software when no open source alternative is available or abstain altogether, saying you can't include it would be a lie. Other then that everything else you say I agree with and I'll be keeping this link to show anyone else that asks me this question.

In the more about copyright section you imply that only open source software can be included with Linux.
