To change the time use date followed by the month, day, hour, minute, and year all numeric and no spaces.

hwclock --systohc
ln -sf /usr/share/zoneinfo/ /etc/localtime
vi /etc/sysconfig/clock (update timezone if redhat)
service ntpd restart
Check:
hwclock --show
date
