Command works, but does not get flash working. Would like some help installing flash 11 on backtrack 5 R 1 64 bit. Thanks.

Hey there,

I found that when I got into the command window and typed in the code it didn’t work, for those of you with the same problem, here’s the solution:

1. Be more awesome.
2. Drop the dollar sign, it should look like this:
sudo apt-get install flashplugin-nonfree.

IF U HAVE PROBLEMS GO ON MOZILLA MENU AND GO TO ADDONS FROM THERE U SHOULD TYPE FLASH I U SHOULD GET UR PLUGINS AUTOMATIC THEN DOING ALL THAT WORK MAKE SURE U UPDATE AND IN UPDATE MANAGER U COULD LOOK FOR FLASH PLAYER AND ALL PLUGINS AND DRIVERS U NEED

just go on mozilla and go on menu look for addons and just type flash u should find all your plugins there is easier like that

NVM, I figured it out. I have to type in the command to remove the flash player, then type in the command to add it. Otherwise, I’m stuck with the old one.

I’m still a bit of a noob on Ubuntu.

I typed this into the terminal:

sudo apt-get install flashplugin-nonfree

It seemed to have gotten the job done, so I went back to firefox and back to youtube to watch my videos. It displayed this:

Additional plugins are required to display all the media on this page.

So I clicked on “Install Missing plugins,” and this is what it displayed:

No suitable plugins were found.

Everything was working fine until I upgraded to Ubuntu v11.1. What’s wrong and how do I fix it? I’d like to use youtube as a music player again.

VERSION : Ubuntu 10.04 lucid
COMPUTER : Gateway ZE6 ( Best Buy )
MAIN PROBLEM : no flash player
SECONDARY PROBLEM : E: Couldn’t find package flashplugin-nonfree
SOLUTION : System–>Administration–>Synaptic Package Manager–>Settings–>Repositories .. on the first tab ‘ Ubuntu Software ‘ under ‘Downloadable from the Internet ‘ the box for source code was not checked. i checked this and also changed the ‘Downloadable from: ‘ box to ‘ Main Server ‘ from ‘ Server in the United States ‘. Worked for me, hope it helps you.

that’s likely a good thing. if it became mainstream, we would have to pay for it and/or subscribe to an antivirus protection service.
