A. The best way to install Multimedia Codecs under Ubuntu Linux is use Automatix2 software. Please see previous FAQ Howto: Install Mplayer under Ubuntu Linux

Quick installation: Automatix2

Open terminal and type the following command:

$ sudo dpkg -i automatix2_1.1-4.12-7.04feisty_i386.deb

Now Automatix2 can be run from terminal by typing the command:

Now install all required multimedia codecs and software.

I am sorry to you and everyone that Automatrix is no longer there, as their site has been permanently shut down by the Feds.
