I know this is a very old thread but having done an immense amount of R & D in SSO, identity management and concerned protocols, I'd recommend CAS for SSO, Shibboleth for ID mgmt and everything encapsulated in SLL/SAML. The benefit in this is CAS is easy to implement via clients for each platform (once you get the hang of it). Shibboleth on the other hand is the most secure in terms of identity management. Huge (and steep) learning curve but once you get the hang of it, man does it rock.

Hi Rodrigo and Vivek,

I know this is a very old thread but having done an immense amount of R & D in SSO, identity management and concerned protocols, I’d recommend CAS for SSO, Shibboleth for ID mgmt and everything encapsulated in SLL/SAML. I have plans to run other applications that require a login, and most are able to login using ldap auth, tools like zimbra, OTRS, Openfire, Vtiger, VPN, FreeNAS, etc, as well as some monitoring tool like nagios, centreon, zabbix, zenoss, or any that closest fits my needs. all an all, most of this tools can run on their own dedicated server and have their own login options besides ldap, but managing that many logins are troublesome, and i would spend more time managing the users different logins than free time to manage other options on all this apps.
I'm trying to make a network with only Open source software, besides a few apps that require windows for bussiness needs, i dont see a reason not to go all open source.

I’m not even close to being an expert on this, but I´m looking for a simple way to manager user logins and hopefully increase security with it. What kind of solution you want (like directory server / account management / SSO / Synchronization / RBAC / e-Business management )?

Rodrigo,

What kind of solution you want (like directory server / account management / SSO / Synchronization / RBAC / e-Business management )?

By: Rodrigo

<guid

I'm looking at several options like FDS, zivios, ebox, and others...
My servers are running ubuntu 8.04 and desktops are ubuntu 8.04 and windowsXP. 10 users. (just to give an idea of what i have in my hands)

Hi Vivek, I just thought I’d ask you which open source Identity Management solution you used and like best as i am about to choose one to deploy and cant decide which, most are based on openldap but…

I’m looking at several options like FDS, zivios, ebox, and others…

My servers are running ubuntu 8.04 and desktops are ubuntu 8.04 and windowsXP. 10 users.
