This version comes with upstart. It is an event-based replacement for the /sbin/init daemon which handles starting of tasks and services during boot, stopping them during shutdown and supervising them while the system is running.
In short upstart is much faster as compare to old init.

Hello. How would I connect my desktop to internet through my nokia 5300 mabile ?
Ive got edgy eft 610 on my computer split with windows xp ,in trying to test as a replacement for windows I find I cant run dvds,mps,wma, etc and im off the telephone line. The ubuntu was obtained via pc magazines and now have 8.4 ubuntu
. Im downloading via a friends computer 8.10 But I fear the same problems will exist. Since my computer is not on line, its a pitty I just cant download these codecs etc. I was looking forward to replaceing xp all together and im just trying to prove it will do that otherwise the linux works well for text, ogg pdfs abyword, etc. It dosent take as long in booting either and is pleasent to look at and work with.
