Dear all

Do you find my tutorials and nixcraft ( https://www.cyberciti.biz/ ) site useful? Please consider supporting it especially if you use ad-blocker. It is hard to keep the site running when so many people block ads. nixCraft is a single man indie operation and online since 2002. I had started this site for sharing my knowledge and documenting my experience as a sysadmin. Over last 15 years site grown a lot. I was able to fund nixCraft for a while with my job and savings.

I have written about Linux, Unix, FreeBSD, OpenBSD, Sysadmin and FOSS-related tutorials for many years. I have written over 5100+ tutorials and long blog posts. Apart from posts, I regularly reply tech support emails and moderate comments here. nixCraft has become a 40+ hour/week job for me. I want to nixCraft to grown more for a long time. It is time to see if it is possible to be a self-employed writer in the open source and Linux. By supporting me, you are going to keep the www.cyberciti.biz website alive.

You can choose from several options to support nixCraft:

  1. Patreon (Recommended option and you can pledge any amount you want from $1 to $as_per_your_wish)
  2. PayPal (one time donation)
  3. Bitcoin address: 1F8jsWqRuhND7LgmJ9F7QzwPBp4PS2tkRR

I am sure most *nix sysadmins or Linux user were helped at least once or many times by my nixCraft (https://www.cyberciti.biz). I needs your support, too. Thanks for any help you can offer if you decide to, and thanks for being a reader!

  1. Hi Vivek,

as an OpenBSD user I always come back to your site. Over the last years you provided good advice and motivation to try s.th. new. A big THANK YOU for your enduring efforts.
Now: Kind words don’t pay your bill so I just send you $50 via PP.
Adblocking will nevertheless continue for obvious reasons.

    Best,
    STEFAN

  2. I love your work. As with others, you’ve helped me out a great deal during my early Linux days.

Are you in the EU? If you are, I’d like to send you some money and a postcard by mail. If you’re okay with that I’ll shoot you an email to get your address.

    Keep up the good work!

  3. You can also support nixCraft through Brave Payments by installing the Brave browser. I see that cyberciti.biz is already registered with Brave Payments as a verified publisher.

Brave replaces ads with a automatic donation system based on usage and built on BitCoin. Sounds crazy, but worth your time to read up on if you hate ads but still want to support publishers.

  4. I’m confused on what you are trying to do.

Wasn’t all the content on nixCraft.com and now you blog about it on cyberciti.biz but link to cyberciti.biz?

I don’t understand having 2 sites… nixCraft.com is the better fit all around. cyberciti.biz has no value.

Like I said before I am just confused on what you are trying to do.

    1. cyberciti.biz – where actual tutorials hosted since 2002. This is what eats most of bandwidth. Most people link to it. So I am going to keep it as it is.
nixcraft.com – where forum was hosted till 2014 or 2015. It is gone now.

      HTH

      1. In my humble opinion, you should move all the content to nixcraft.com and redirect old links from cyberciti.biz. I remember the name “nixCraft”, but never the domain or its spelling. If you redirect every old link, search engines won’t drop your pages down the search rankings or anything. It wouldn’t be a rebranding as much as a fulfillment of the current brand.

    2. All the content were always on cyberciti.biz as far as I remember. I used to be a member of a forum at nixcraft.com till it was shut down. The domain name does not bother me. Donated $20.

You should sell merchandise to support your site. I would buy a nixcraft
      t-shirt or sticker…
