Fedora Linux version 9 has been released and available for download ( jump to download link ). The Fedora Project is a Red Hat sponsored by Red Hat and guided by community and contributing members.

New in Fedora 9

This release includes many new features and software such as GNOME 2.22, KDE 4.0.3, Firefox 3 beta 5, PackageKit ( cross-distribution package management solution ), OpenJDK (Open Source Java version), SELinux confined web browser, Upstart init daemon, Xen virtualization, and many more cutting edge features.

You can download Fedora via the web/ftp server or via BitTorrent (recommended).

  • Use 32 bit Live CD (691M), if internet connection is slow or you just want to see how Fedora works. You can install fedora from Live cd.

  1. I upgraded from Fedora 7 to Fedora 9 and I’m not satisfied. Ok, I had many apps installed from tarball and I can understand that those apps were not marked for upgrade, but I still don’t understand why firefox3 can’t be executed (xorg server error).
    I HATE those windoze effetcs like those enlarging icons when the mouse passes over them, leave me a solid, performing system to do what I want, reserve CPU for ME.
    I’ll go back to Fedora 8, and even to Fedora 7 if it will be the case.

  2. ok, so far Fedora 7 has been the winner for me as well. . 8 wouldn’t install everything, and 9, well.. I think 7 is where I am once again staying.

  3. gud day red hat team, i wan to learn more in all fedora to configure as a server in for all user can have individual account on each user, can u teach me on how to config this. wish you reply me in pls send me on how to config fot this as a indidual user server… thank this my email [email protected] [email protected]

  4. If a have an Proliant ml350 with one Xeon procesor what distro i’ve to install fedora 9 i386 or fedora 9 x86_64? Help me..!! y try the i386 but when reboot too many error messages apear and the graphic mode is deleyed too much..!! and i’ve no eth interface, but whe the instalations was in process, it ask me for the configuration and every thing appear ok.
