They say – there’s no such thing as a free lunch. But, Linux and FOSS software can be used to start, run and grow your business for, you guessed it, free. February survey of IT managers by IDC indicated that hard times are accelerating the adoption of Linux. The open source operating system will emerge from the recession in a stronger data center position than before, concluded an IDC white paper.

An internet security start-up reveals a plan to create mobile data centers out of old container ships. From the article:

It seems a company dubbed IDS is getting set to change the way we look at traditional data centers. The San Francisco-based startup is reportedly about to build 22 new centers, but rather than looking for unused closets and underground caverns to store hardware, it’s planning to erect said data centers on decommissioned cargo ships.

Wow, this is an interesting idea. It may sounds crazy but you will end up saving lots of money on air conditioning and other factors.
