WordPress 2.7 promises to add threaded comments support along with lots of new features. Checkout Ryan’s blog post about all upcoming features.
Right now the comments is in linear format. Some post has more than 100 comments and it becomes difficult to follow discussion. I’ve been waiting for this feature as it will allow us follow discussion easily. Most large forum like slashdot, reddit, and others do have this kind of commenting system.

There were couple plugins for this purpose that I was using for my projects, including this:

But of course it would be nice to have this feature out of the box…
